Pickleball Paddle Weight Explained
Paddle weight is one of those specs that sounds technical but actually makes a real difference to how a game feels in your hand.
Lightweight vs Mid-Weight vs Heavyweight
Every paddle in our own range, RYFT, VYRO, and KYNX, sits deliberately in the mid-weight band (between 7.76oz and 8.07oz), because we'd rather give every player, whatever their level, a paddle that's genuinely balanced than chase an extreme in either direction.
Why Weight Isn't the Whole Story
A mid-weight paddle with a soft, thick core feels completely different to a mid-weight paddle with a stiff, thin one, even at the exact same weight. That's why RYFT, VYRO, and KYNX all share the same 16mm core for consistent, controlled feel, and instead let the face material do the work of stepping up power and spin as you progress through the range.
How to Test What's Right for You
If you get the chance, hold a few paddles before buying and take an imaginary swing. If your wrist feels like it's fighting the paddle, it's too heavy. If your shot feels like there's nothing behind it, it's probably too light.
Still deciding? Compare our full range side by side, or check our buying guide for how weight works alongside grip size and core thickness.
